At what age did you discover alternative rock and roll? How
did this discovery make you feel?
7th grade (12 or 13) was the best grade for me for two reasons:
The Legend of Zelda and Alternative Music. I randomly bought The
Cure: Disintegration on a shopping trip with my mom and from there
fell into Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jesus and
Mary Chain, Sugarcubes, New Order, Siouxsie, They Might Be Giants,
Pixies, etc… I routinely taped “120 Minutes” and “Post-Modern” which
I would watch before school; Murray State University’s radio
show “Beyond the Edge” was godsend and listened to weekly
with the help of my mom’s aluminum foil. My radio looked
like a small UFO reaching out to the mothership. One day I was
going to leave Milli Vanilli-ville, and I knew it.

10th to 12 grade marching band.

and Mary Chain/Leonard Cohen/Breeders/Bach/Echo and the Bunnymen/Le
Tigre/Siouxsie/New Order/Smiths/Tom Petty/Pixies/Depeche Mode/Kraftwerk/Cure/Bowie……………………
The who said that, “The Kids Are Alright”. Do you
agree with this statement?
No, since I’m convinced they stole our shit….I’m
pissed.
